Friday Wedding Inspiration - Bridal Edition

There is way too much prettiness out there. I have demonstrated, quite effectively, that one can spend several rotations of the clock's hour hand taking it all in. After a few weeks of getting caught scouring Style Me Pretty and the like, I stopped even pretending embarrassment. I love it all: the lace, the pink things, the flowers, the braids. I am fully and completely embracing the 8 year old girl within-- young Lindsey would be proud.

In that vein, this bridal shoot is exactly my style.

And it reminds me of one of my photographer's bridal shoots-- my very favorite of his bridal shoots.

Pages of Our Lives

Last night's flower consultation was phenomenal. One of my favorite parts was when I mentioned that Nick and I love to read. She got an excited look on her face and jotted down "readers" at the top of the consultation form. From there, we started brainstorming different ways books and book pages can figure into the decor... and not just stacking them on tables, as I was originally thinking.

We went from stacking them on tables...

to creating table runners...

to using the pages in less obvious ways...

to wrapping the base of the boutonnieres in tiny pieces of antique looking paper (which I couldn't find any pictures of!).

So many ideas...

The Simpsons (and flowers, of course)

The past few days have felt like an episode of the Simpsons. It starts like any old day, then the drama heats up, some of it rather outlandish, and by the end we have arrived right back to normal. Like nothing happened. I might as well be living in Springfield. I won't bore you with the details, I'm kind of bored with them myself by now, but any Austinites might be able to appreciate that the drama surrounded apartment hunting for a new place. By campus. Ha. Yeah, we are staying put. Cue the credits.

So, wedding fun has been on hold for a few days. That is about to be remedied with a flower consultation tonight! Is anyone tired of flowers? I didn't think so:

New Toy-- Photo booth Ideas

This adorable Fuji Instax Mini just came in the mail. It spits out tiny pictures, just like a polaroid!

Watching the first picture develop before my eyes was like magic. Pure magic.

So, some thoughts are percolating in my brain. Wedding related thoughts, of course. I love the idea of having a photo booth at the wedding, you know, a little something for guests to do other than dance. But darn those things are expensive. Maybe this little instant camera could be our own do-it-yourself photo booth? Provide some props, a cool backdrop, and bam!, photo booth. I have heard of others doing this, and I wonder if it is too kitschy... or is it just kitschy enough??

Friday Wedding Inspiration

It is dark and stormy here in Austin, which is a nice change from the continual sun. I sound like Oscar the Grouch, but it has just been too much of a good thing. I am, however, crossing my fingers and toes that this time next year the sun is streaming and the birds are chirping.

This wedding has been brightening my morning. The flowers are absolutely divine, and the whole day looks unique and quaint in the lovely photos, taken by Austin photographer Katherine O'Brien.

Life: March, one year out.

I've been collecting all this cool stuff for the wedding and hoarding it away in a hope chest my dad made for me. (Hey Dad, the hope chest is actually being used for its intended purpose! Woot!) Yesterday it dawned on me, after drooling over a few lifestyle blogs, that this stuff was too pretty to sit in a trunk for a year. Why not put it all to use now so that by March 8th, 2013 all these little knickknacks and details will already have stories?

So, I began beautifying the apartment with my new toys. Nothing too spectacular, just making the normal a tiny bit prettier.
