And the fun continues: flowers and invites galore!

I have countless journal entries that start like this: "I haven't journaled in forever........"

Yeah, I tend to be a bit of a blogging and journaling delinquent. But, I will reform.

I finally picked a florist! That is one step forward for indecisive brides everywhere. (Cue the slow clap.) I am really excited about my pick, too. Verbena Floral Design has done the flowers for some incredibly gorgeous weddings on Style Me Pretty, and LuAnn has been nothing but sweet and accommodating, helping me work my ideas into my budget. It feels so good to have that big item checked off my list, and now I can just get back to my obsessive Pinterest pinning of pretty flowers in bottles. Ha. I'm not kidding though...

My amazing invitation designer, Emily Jeffords of Beautiful Hello, created this awesome inspiration board for the invites, and it made me pretty giddy. I cannot wait to see what she comes up with-- whatever it is, I know it's going to be great. Go check out her blog for more loveliness.

So many other ideas are swirling around, but I will save them for another post. I have a to-do list that includes deep cleaning the bathroom (yuck), so I had better get to it!

Details, Little Details

I've been thinking a lot about details lately, details that really don't matter a year out from my wedding. Oh wait! It is almost 11 months, so I guess I can fixate on tiny things. Yes!

Velvet ribbon really matters to me at the moment. I know, I know, it's silly. But, look how cool it looks:

In the spirit of keeping it random, this shoot from Green Wedding Shoes is gorgeous. All the tiny details, and paper butterflies... perfect.

Pages of Our Lives

Last night's flower consultation was phenomenal. One of my favorite parts was when I mentioned that Nick and I love to read. She got an excited look on her face and jotted down "readers" at the top of the consultation form. From there, we started brainstorming different ways books and book pages can figure into the decor... and not just stacking them on tables, as I was originally thinking.

We went from stacking them on tables...

to creating table runners...

{both via Style Me Pretty}

to using the pages in less obvious ways...

to wrapping the base of the boutonnieres in tiny pieces of antique looking paper (which I couldn't find any pictures of!).

So many ideas...

The Simpsons (and flowers, of course)

The past few days have felt like an episode of the Simpsons. It starts like any old day, then the drama heats up, some of it rather outlandish, and by the end we have arrived right back to normal. Like nothing happened. I might as well be living in Springfield. I won't bore you with the details, I'm kind of bored with them myself by now, but any Austinites might be able to appreciate that the drama surrounded apartment hunting for a new place. By campus. Ha. Yeah, we are staying put. Cue the credits.

So, wedding fun has been on hold for a few days. That is about to be remedied with a flower consultation tonight! Is anyone tired of flowers? I didn't think so:

Just another day in the life

I love when Nick asks me what I'm doing. He walks over, taking a much needed study break from some massive notebook of scrawled pharmacy notes from one of many classes called pharma-something. "What'cha doing Linds?"

My face resembles a guilty puppy. "You know... working on... flowers..."

He thinks this is very cute. I think about how sad I will be when I don't have this excuse to look at pretty pictures.

In the works: lots of flower meetings. After my initial two consultations, I decided to do a little more research and talk to some more florists. I'm excited to see what comes of it. And, in case anyone but me cares, I love these two bouquets right now:

Videography is almost in the bag! I found exactly who I want, and they are available, so the deal just needs to be sealed. More later...

And, because I think we are kinda cute:

Flowers Flowers!

Meeting with floral designers is a girls dream come true. You've got a talented designer with a pen and a note pad asking you what you want, and showing you loads of pretty pictures. Yes please. Maybe I need a career change? Just a few snapshots of inspiration:

Big leaves and lots of texture!

Perfection in a bouquet-- add some trailing leaves and I might just die.

Succulents are such strange little plants, therefore I love them and their odd beauty.

This shape is perfect-- love the wispy, just-picked feel.

These bottles are the inspiration behind the weekly Goodwill trips.

I'm loving ranunculus, succulents, big leaves and greenery, buds popping out of little vases and quirky vessels, and bold orange pops of color.

More Shoes and Flowers

I got home from work today to find a box on my doorstep. Shoes! I tried them on, and declared them the champions. (I apologize for the bland, unpainted toenails.)

In other wedding news, Caitlin (my maid of honor) and I met with a really wonderful florist today. She and I had way too much fun talking about all my ideas, looking at pictures, and brainstorming. Nothing is set in stone yet, but it was a fun first meeting.

Lastly, how can anyone resist this stud? There we go-- this is what it is all for. I can't wait to be this man's wife!!
